I am a graduate of the Sauder School of Business at UBC. Upon entering this program, I had no clue what I wanted to do beyond completing it with flying colours. Four and a half years, one marketing specialization, one student exchange to Mexico, and three co-op terms later, I have come no closer to figuring it all out. Although I am a realist in knowing that business and money make the world go round, I am an equal idealist in loathing everything about that notion. So it is at this crossroad of life known as post-secondary graduation where I stand uncertainly poised to fight the banal and predictable life-path of a commerce graduate.

The party leg of the trip begins

I apologize for our delayed post but the severity of my hangover yesterday made typing and creating sentence structures a bit too much to handle. However, since we've done so much over the past two days, it's only fair that I create two today to make up for it.

Our first night in Melbourne was classic in so many ways. Luke, Alice and Caroline are amazingly nice and full of life so it was fun getting to know the city through their eyes. Then there's also Jordan's friend Danny (Canadian) who's been living in Australia for a couple of months now, so we all went out together. The night began innocently enough with a few drinks, greasy (but cheap and good) chinese food, and a table next to a unique first date (Jordan quickly established that it was some paid escort situation). From there we hit up a gay bar (for decrepid and creepy old men only apparently) to grab a few more drinks to take home with us and pre-drink before we went out. Although we had thought we would take in a symphony performance in the botanic gardens, that and most of our other well-laid plans at this point seemed to fade into "riding the bus", white wine, and Matt Costa conversations. Luckily around 11pm though we realized we needed to get moving so we could get in somewhere decent downtown. So red sunglasses and ivory necklaces in tow, we hopped on a train and headed down to Swanston St where we found some really interesting back alley bars. We met up with Leah and Tom (more of Graeme's friends) and stayed there for a bit before heading over to the "Lounge". The story continues a bit hazily from here but I promise to upload the pictures later today so you can get a better idea of it all.

A severe hangover put me out of commission for most of the next day but Jordan managed to swing down to St. Kilda beach to meet up with Danny for some beachy activities.

We'll break it up here so you can stretch you legs for the next one...
